I am a 41 year old mother of 5 children. My 11 year old son has autism and CP. His story is very lenghty with issues regarding doctors, professional therapists, state workers and so on...
I made the diagnosis of Autism when he was three. I was constantly being told was is just "developmentally delayed"
As the oldest of 5 children with dozens upon dozens of cousins, my son was just more than delayed. He didnt speak, didnt walk, didnt socialize, didnt look us in the eyes, never pointed at anything, crying spells, giggling for no reason, hand flapping, facination with fans/lights, didnt want anyone to hold him/pick him up/kiss him, he didnt want hats/socks/blankets on him, he screamed through each therapy session, didnt sleep well, had bowel troubles and wouldnt eat or drink any thing other than milk. NOW, I dont know about you, but that was much more than "delayed" to me and shame on all those who told us he was just that.
Anyway, the last therapist, before they were forcing this 3 year old off to school, introduced me to a diet eliminating wheat and dairy. I was told it is very involved. I was very interested in trying it and within 3 days of eliminating dairy from my sons diet I saw an amazing improvement.
He was sitting outside with me on my birthday and put his hand on my leg and pointed to a child riding a bike. For most people with children this is no big deal, but it was enough reason to bring me to tears. It all began to change from that point on. He is almost 11, he speaks, walks, socializes, plays, toilets on his own, sleeps through the night, is loving and very expressive and I fully believe it was due to the diet being introduced to him when it was.
I have had him on this diet, successfully, for the past 8 years now.
Anyone looking for advice or help with this diet, dont hesitate to ask, I believe you can have the same results if introduced properly and as early as possible.
